Jin Feng: Soft as Cotton, Hard as Needle

The current MVAIR artist is Jin Feng, an interdisciplinary artist. Since 2000, he has participated in various contemporary art events and exhibitions self-organized by the artist community in Shanghai. Working in multi- ple media, he is dedicated to blurring the distinction between his dual identity of artist and theorist.

“Soft as Cotton, Hard as Needle” is a performance / lecture Jin conceived during his residency at MadeIn Art Museum. In recent years, his practice has been deeply informed by object-oriented speculative realism. Through writing, performance, and archives, he hopes to transcribe the Chongming Island into an encounter between different objects so as to expand the territory of our thinking and action.

To accompany the launch of the showroom “Soft as Cotton, Hard as Needle”, the artist invites you to join his live performance on the opening day of MadeIn Art Museum. The showroom and the performance are free and open to the public.
